You have completed your Pool Lifeguard qualification as part of your initial training but still need to complete a number of supervised training hours. The Aquatics staff can assist you to complete your supervised training hours.

How Do I become a Lifeguard?

To become a lifeguard the following three accreditations and checks are required:

  1. A current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
    Courses are available through Royal Life Saving WA.

    FREE COURSES FOR ELIGIBLE GROUPS 
    Royal Life Saving WA and the Department of Training and Workforce Development are working together to offer the Pool Lifeguard Skill Set (4 Day Course) for free to eligible participants. Visit the Royal Life Saving WA website for more details
  2. First Aid and CPR certification
    A current First Aid and CPR certification will be required to become a lifeguard.
  3. A Working with Children Check (WWC)
    A WWC is a compulsory criminal check required to work with children.
